I have a question about the "Post your poetry" and "Post your prose" forums. What's the point of those, since the main part of the site has areas dedicated to each?

On that note, there already seems to be a topic about this, though it was never really addressed.

I wondered about this too ... since you can submit to either, and you can comment on either, what's the point of having two seperate places, other than to hide one or both?

I'm not that familiar with the processes on the main site? Can you edit your poetry or prose there? I've always taken the forums to be sort of a "work in progress" type of deal. Somewhere to flesh out the story before submitting it to the main site. I could be wrong, though.

Funny enough, I was thinking about this myself. I'll post about this somewhere with more visibility when I figure out how best to phrase it, but the short version is this:
The forums are designed for works in progress. It's easy to get a poem through three or four revisions on the forums before calling it "done." At that point, the topic in the forum can fall away, and the poem can be submitted to the part on the site.
There are a few reasons the two are seperate. One is that it makes it easier to find all the completed poems by someone, since you don't have to wade through other forum posts to find them. Another is that the site portion is intended as a showcase. What's been submitted there is a final product, representing the completion of the author's work, and it's in a place with other completed works.
I still need to figure out how best to emphasize the positive aspects of each one.
