The comforter had dots
so I slept on my stomach.
Hotel thread counts
are low in the north.
A silver knob woke me
at the end of a cherry sacrifice,
one eye closed made it seem narrow.
I've had ruder awakenings.
A dog-eared Gideon once said
not to bite the hand that feeds you,
so I charged it on American Express
and stiffed the gratuity whores.
Shark-skin and cubans, greenpeace en vogue.
I wasn't sure what to wear so I shot them both
Isadora's cabbie ran me through a Dunkin' Donuts
that had no holes, so we tapped out finger waltzes
to a tune we all knew best.
After the iced magnum, only the bucket was empty.
The dance had ended, and we had all drank our fill.
