Is it possible to retrieve poetry that was submitted before the site was renovated? Or has everything been wiped clean from the database? Thanks a bunch!

I wish it were possible to get back all the old things that had been submitted, but time has a way of erasing things, and there's no way to access a complete record of everything that used to be here.
It's a shame, since there was so much good stuff that submitted here.

What a bummer!

There was a lot of good stuff on the old Poetsquill, and I am personally disapointed because *scratches head in embarrassment* I wrote a lot of stuff in free time with no record of it anywhere, but was on here.

Oh, I submitted one of my poems (currently the only poem I don't have a copy of) on here, then the site went down for renovation and yeah...now I'm left poemless. =0P

I myself had many things on the old poetsquill that I did not save. But i'm happy that the site is up again even if there is no way to get that stuff back.
...Memories of sparkling nightmares
  And divine torments
  Lost in my purple imagination...

Hey,

I was the webmaster of the original PoetsQuill, and I believe I do still have some of the writing that was posted on the forums! I'm not quite sure about the writing I had up on the site, but I can try and locate your poem if you give me the exact title of it when it was posted. :)

Cheers

Yay! Yea, let Paolo know the titles, and if he has it, we can get them reinserted back into our database.

I know I had a ton of stuff on the old poetsquill, but not anything I was exceptionally proud of, I'm sure.

But, yay for Paolo! ;)

Paolo it was a great pity that the old site went down like it did. I found that it was so good to be able to exchange chit-chat with the Sarahbirds and others. For myself I always write, or scribble rather, my stuff down in an old reporters notebook. Then copy into Word as soon as I can because my writing is so bad after 3 or 4 days I can't read it. I make sure of this because 'somewhere' I have my work of 30-40 years ago all typed out with mistaken key strikes and the lot. Where? I can't find it. This taught me a lesson so now I print out and keep as well as having it on a spare zip disc and the extra hard drive on my PC.

Quoteexchange chit-chat with the Sarahbirds

Yes Ben, you did a lot of "chit-chatting back then, but it wasn't with the Sarah's[LP)...it was about them. Their vernacular was a vexation, not only to your righteous spirit, but to others I know of as well who now, after his passing (LP), praise him as though he were their very own guru.
My memory isn't quite as short as yours Ben, if you have any left at all.
It's still raining on the roses though, just in case you wanted to know.
It pays to keep your umbrella stitched.

Here's a couple I wrote some time ago. I've posted them in various places.

Lord Pineapple, this one's for you

Before you came
I sat in the swing
Thinking it was a chair
Spontaneous expression.
The birds in the forest sing of it.
The ever-changing clouds illustrate it.
Your poetry speaks of it.

In The Shadows Of A Pineapple (losing in both of two ways)
by Bluesy Socrateaser

He was several
of a kind.
Between us
we populated
numerous boards
Nowadays,
just one of us
is many more
then we thought
we'd ever be

It's a peculiar life

When the writing
comes easy
after the facts,
and all that experience.

The same people
who slammed him
and banned him,
now pay him homage.

He'd have been
all over you
for that.

You know he would,

...and he would
some more.

His Sarahbirds
were given the boot
more than once.
Bob Smartass was
more than society
could bear.
But we knew something.

We knew a liar when we saw one,
heard one, or read one.

One of us still does.

She may be gone...
that Shadow that lit up
this board,
but it isn't her
that lives in the
darkness.

Is it?

Shadows Illuminates Me...
you are Sarahs Ghost.

...8)

...Just being Bluesy
