Comfort

Cling to me
I'll hold on to you forever
Your need is your strength
I'll kiss your eyelids
If you shed your tears
And then your mouth
Covered with mine
Take you away from your pain
Be lost in me
To find your way again
Love is not a passion
It is a comfort

I like this and cannot understand why 40 folks have viewed it and no-one has made a single comment.
What people must realise is that unless they start to comment on others work they will get very few comments on their own; In which case they might as well write their poems in chalk on a brick wall for all the good it will do them.
The reason I like this poem is bceause is has a certain restraint about it and it puts over its message in a very quiet way.

Quote

Your need is your strength

at first this line seems to be contradictory but read with the body of the work it fits in beautifully.
Awesome poem! It really brings to mind the idea of being vulnerable and completely open with the person you love and how they support and comfort you. I really like the lines:

"Take you away from your pain
Be lost in me
To find your way again"

To me those lines really do imply the feeling of comfort one can offer to another. Well done!
I can feel the comfort emanating from the words. To me it is a very soothing piece. I would like to see it in Poetry, it should not be hidden here in the message boards. It seems like no one has actually posted any poetry in decades. Everyday I come on hoping to see some new work other than my own, but lately there hasn't been any. Anyhoo - lovely. I especially like the part
"Your need is your strength
I'll kiss your eyelids
If you shed your tears"
I don't know why, it just really leaps out at me. :)
