Vials of laughter <br />stored in her drawer, <br />along with the memories. <br /> <br />A small cedar box rested upon the bureau. <br />Contained within it were her locket and brooch. <br /> <br />The note on the bedside table was brief. <br />It mentioned her decision. <br />No gifts or reparations were made. <br />She married once. <br />Divorced once. <br />It wasn't a lasting union. <br />It lasted only long enough to leave it. <br /> <br />She denied herself the pleasures of sex. <br />She never valued it as a means of cohesion. <br />It was simply a motion one goes through to conceive, <br />though the only conception she was in agreement with <br />was the concept of not conceiving. <br /> <br />Until now...
